Displaced fractures

Having a displaced fracture is a severe injury that can affect anyone. These injuries can cause life-changing injuries, and you should consult with your healthcare provider before engaging in any physical activity. This is because you may have to undergo surgery to fix the fracture.

These fractures can occur anywhere in the body. You may not notice a break, but the bone could snap out of place, and the skin can be punctured. You will need to take an x-ray to determine what type of fracture you have. You can also get a CT scan to see the shape of the bone. Displaced fractures are usually painful and may require surgery to fix. The treatment may include surgery, immobilization, and physical therapy. You will be placed in a cast or brace to protect the broken bone. You will also be given exercises to strengthen the surrounding tissue and maintain full body function.

There are many different types of fractures, and each will have a different treatment. Displaced fractures are often harder to heal because of the instability of the bones. Surgery is often used to fix the fracture, and you may need to have it re-reduced. You may also need to have your bones realigned.

Displaced fractures occur when two or more broken bones move out of place. This can happen during screw fixation, or during surgical repair. In addition, it can be difficult to determine if your fracture is displaced, as it is harder to detect through plain radiographs. However, a CT scan can help to detect the fracture more accurately. X-rays may be taken every six weeks to see if your fracture is healing. You will also be scheduled for follow-up appointments to see how the fracture is progressing.

Displaced fractures are often associated with comminuted fractures. Comminuted fractures are caused by severe traumas. This can be a result of a fall or a life-threatening accident. You can get relief from pain by applying ice to the area, and some patients even find relief by taking non-prescription pain relief medications. However, severe pain may require prescription-strength medication. You may also need surgery to remove the pins or rods that are holding the bone in place.

Displaced fractures can also occur in the scaphoid, which is the bone located at the waist of the scaphoid. Scaphoid fractures are common, and they can be treated. Displaced fractures can be treated by open or closed reduction. A displaced scaphoid fracture can also be treated with a percutaneous wire fixation. You can also use an internal device to keep the bone in place while you heal.

Displaced fractures can be treated in the office or in a surgical facility. You may need to have surgery to reset your fracture, or to realign the bones. Your doctor will guide you through the recovery process.

You may also need to undergo physical therapy to strengthen the surrounding tissue and prevent stiffness. You may also be given exercises to do at home, which will help you keep your full body functioning while you heal. Your doctor may prescribe ibuprofen or acetaminophen for pain relief.
